How do you check for Ticks?

  • Head, Hair, Ears (in and around)
  • Arms, Under the Arms, Inside Elbow
  • Legs, Behind the Knees
  • Waist, Belly Button
  • Around the Groin
  • Between the Toes
  • PS....  Don't forget your pets!

 Development stages include egg, larva, nymph, and adult.  

I Found A Tick!  Now What?  So Gross!

  • Find some tweezers.  Needle nose pliers will work, if you are careful.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water, or alcohol sanitizer, wine doesn't count.
  • Save the wine for yourself.
  • Wash the removal implement with soap and water or alcohol sanitizer.
  • Wash the location of the tick with soap and water, or alcohol sanitizer.
  • Attach the implement to the tick as close to the skin as possible.
  • Slowly, pull the tick straight out.
